Outdoor Adventures for School-Age Kids.

Send your school-age kiddo (completed Kindergarten through completed 5th grade) outdoors while you get work done in the summer. Wild Rumpus is offered each Monday and Wednesday from 7:15am-5:15pm.

Why Choose Nature?

The ideal for our bodies and brains is to choose nature play over indoor play. The reality is that most children nowadays don’t get to spend as much time outdoors as when you were a child. Technology and adult led activities have taken over. Children need time to disconnect, reconnect with real people and the real world, play, explore, learn, and take risks in the Douglas County Parks.

Our base camp, which is where you drop off and pick up your child, will be at Butterfly Hill Nature Preschool. The school-age program will have their own room to utilize in case of inclement weather or before and after heading out to the county parks.

Details.

Registration is now open for Wild Rumpus. Use the Registration tab above to fill out a Registration Request form to begin the registration process.

Tuition will be deducted from your bank account on June 1, July 1, and August 1. Parents will be charged for care for their child, according to their contracted schedule, regardless of illness, quarantine, vacation, or absence.

What to send with your child each day:

  • Backpack

  • Lunch and Snacks (always pack extra - they get HUNGRY playing outdoors all day!)

  • Swimming gear and a life jacket if needed

  • A large water bottle or two

  • Bug spray and sun screen

  • Tall white socks are something to consider so ticks can be seen

  • Have your child wear layers. It can be cooler in the morning than the afternoon.

Play.

It’s necessary for “big” kids too!

Douglas County Parks

Our community offers a wonderful opportunity to utilize our Douglas County Parks for outdoor exploration and education. Our children hold these parks dear to their hearts as they are able to imagine, build, explore, and grow in nature.
