Hello Wild Rumpus Families!

We are so excited to have your children with us this summer and cannot wait to get them outdoors for some fun and exploration. Before the adventures begin, we do have some quick notes to share.

Camp starts June 3rd, 2024 and runs through August 21st, 2024. We are closed on July 31, 2024.

Drop Off and Pick Up.

Wild Rumpus drop off is anytime between 7:15 and 8:30. The bus will be leaving Butterfly Hill at 8:30. We understand that sometimes you may have to drop your child off later. If that happens, you can bring your child to meet us at our location for the day. Some mornings at drop off time we may be playing at the play-set by the bus and you can drop your child off there instead of inside the school.

The bus will return to Butterfly Hill by 4:00 and you can pick up your child between 4:00 and 5:15. Similar to drop off, you can pick up at our off site location for the day earlier if necessary.  When you arrive for pick up we may be outdoors playing or indoors.

What to Pack Each Day.

Often we are asked, “What do we pack?”  While each family is different with varying needs, here is a list of our must haves.

  • Sunscreen and bug spray.

  • Swimming gear (including a life jacket and towel). Swim shoes are strongly suggested as many of the lakes we frequent have zebra mussels.

  • Change of clothes and LAYERS, depending on weather. It is best to have too much rather than too little, especially in the early days of summer. A sweatshirt goes a long way in warming us up on cooler mornings!

  • Water bottle with water. Most kids bring two full water bottles. THEY DRINK A LOT OF WATER and we don’t always have access to a refill station at many of the places we frequent.

  • Backpacks work better than bags.

  • Tennis shoes with long white socks are great (white socks are great for noticing ticks). Rain boots are also great for ticks as they struggle to crawl up boots. We don’t recommend wearing sandals for the whole day. However, they can pack a pair to use while swimming if they prefer.

  • There will be opportunities to go fishing throughout the summer. If your child would like to fish on these days, you will be notified of our fishing days ahead of time so you will know to send a fishing pole with your camper. Butterfly Hill will provide the bait on our fishing days.

FOOD, FOOD, FOOD. When you think you have packed enough food, throw in a little more. Playing outside all day really makes kids hungry. So we suggest a good lunch and several snacks. We also suggest packing the snacks separate from the lunch. Otherwise, kids try to eat it all at once and then are very hungry by the afternoon. We respectfully ask that you do not send tree nuts or shellfish as we have someone with a severe, life-threatening allergy. Peanuts and peanut butter are ok.  Please see the allergy alert posted under School-Age Program, I’m Enrolled, Now What?

What Not to Pack.

Due to a life-threatening allergy, we cannot have the foods listed below packed with Wild Rumpus kids. Please keep in mind that many of these food items can be found in trail mix bars, granola bars, nut mixtures etc. Read labels! Peanut butter and peanuts ARE ok to have in lunches and snacks. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe!

Cashews

Almonds

Brazil nuts

Hazelnuts (therefore, no Nutella)

Pecans

Pistachios

Walnuts

Shrimp

Teachers.

There will always be two teachers present during Wild Rumpus days whether on site or off site. When your Wild Rumpus session begins, our teachers will share contact information with you so that if you have any questions throughout the summer, need to let a teacher know your child will be absent, or need to inform a teacher of a late drop off or early pick up, you will know who to reach out to.

Thank you for sharing your children with us!  We are looking forward to a summer of exploration and wonder.

Sincerely,

The Wild Rumpus Team
