Outdoor Gear Rental Program

The most important school supply for your nature preschooler is their outdoor gear, and we’re here to help! Butterfly Hill offers an optional Outdoor Gear Rental Program to ensure your child is prepared for outdoor play in all types of weather. If you rent outdoor gear from us your child will always have clean and dry items to wear, and no matter how much your child grows this year, they will always have the next size available for any item you rent. The items in our Outdoor Gear Rental Program are some of the best gear available for outdoor learning. Staying warm, dry, and comfortable is essential to making outdoor play both fun and meaningful for your child.

Families may choose to rent one, two, or all three of the available items:

Mittens – $20 per year: A variety of mittens are provided for different weather conditions, including lightweight, water-resistant, and insulated winter mittens. Children enrolled in the mitten rental have access to all options as needed.

Bogs Boots – $20 per year: These boots are rated to -30°F and are easy for children to put on independently. They keep feet warm in winter and can also be used as waterproof mud boots during spring and fall.

Oaki Rain/Mud Suits – $20 per year: Lightweight, full-body suits designed to keep children dry during rain and wet spring conditions while protecting clothing from mud.

Information about the Outdoor Gear Rental Program, including an order form, is sent home each fall. Families may return the completed order form when their preschooler begins their school year session at Butterfly Hill.
